פנינים מתוך ‘באר
בשדה’

לקראת פרשת כי תשא

‘פורים קטן’
ד’פרזים’ וד’מוקפין’

וזה ה’קטן’ ‘גדול
הוא’…

The lights of Purim and Mordechai
and Esther are coming into all of us. We believe that these lights
will leave an impression that will last a whole year in order to awaken the
power of Purim within us. Within the reception of these lights of Purim
Katan we enter the story of Parsha Ki Sisa. In Parshas Ki
Sisa we learn about the Chet Ha’Egel, which the outcome pursues us
till today.

However,,
Hashem did a great act of mercy. That after all the Hester Panim which
was cause by the Chet Ha’Egel  Hashem gave us the Parah Adumah which Chazal
teach us that the Parah Adumah
is inorder to purify us from the impurity of the Chet Ha’Egel.

Rebb  Nahman teaches us<![if !supportFootnotes]>[2]<![endif]>:

After Purim we read about the Torah section of
the Parah… for Purim is called after the Pur (lot)…
through Purim we merit to reach a level of
purity of that of the Parah Adumah… in order to be on a level of
purifying the impure and not to impure the pure…

There is a famous question regarding the
Chet Ha’Egel. How did it occur? Only 40 days passed since the Jewish
Nation were at Mount Sinai and heard “I am Hashed your God who took you out of Egypt,
you shall not have any other God…”. And now 40 days
after that, they declare by the Chet Ha’Egel ”that this is the God of Israel
who took them out of Egypt”? How did this happen?

Rebbe Nachman teaches<![if !supportFootnotes]>[3]<![endif]>:

Faith advocates for the distant ones before God, and
then He brings them near under His wings.

And this is the advocate: Those who are distant from
God have erred mainly because God can only be known by inferring the hidden
from the revealed. So since they see from the revealed that the operation of the
world follows the arrangement of the constellations, they fall into errors,
each one into his own mistake. Some think that
everything runs according to natural law, that the world operates according to
its own rules, while others think that one must serve the intermediary, as was
the error regarding the Golden Calf. They wanted the Calf to be an intermediary
between themselves and God, they said “Which will go before us”, as an
intermediary.

Many fall into such mistakes, making the immediate
cause into an intermediary between themselves and God. That is they believe in
God, but also believe in intermediary means and claim that these are necessary.
In other words, they believe, for instance, that the means of sustenance is an
occupation, but say that the means of occupation is the main thing, as if
without this means of leading, which is medicine, they make that the main
thing, as if without those medicines that God cannot heal. But this is not so,
for God is the cause of all causes and the means of all means, and he does not
need any means. So, our involvement in these means must be only with faith in
God, and we must not make the means the main thing.

It’s scary how so many of us make this
mistake as well every day. Everyone should contemplate and see if they are also
making a ‘Golden Calf’. Which one of us does not feel that they must rely on
certain means in life? Which one of us believes that everything that happens to
us is from Hashem?

The great test one must test themselves
is that everyone should ask themselves what would they do if the Kollel they
were in closed, if the Yeshiva where one teaches closes down, if they
lose their job, or if one looses all his possessions Chas V’Shalom. Everyone
must ask themselves if even during a time like that of Hester Panim they
would remain strong with full belief and faith in God.  One must know that God is always listening and
one can always pour out ones heart to God.
One must do Hishtadlus and Hashem will do the rest.

We all must work on ourselves to get to
a higher and higher level of Emunah. Specifically now during Purim
Katan when we can attain great lights of faith and belief. This is the Tikkun
of the Chet Ha’Egel to believe that everything is from God directly
and not from intermediaries.
